Solid geometry deals with the shapes and angles of three-dimensional objects, as well as the geometric formulas of these objects. This course has the student learn to use a drawing board and instruments to depict solid shapes on paper. From these practical exercises the student learns to better visualize geometric solids. After covering and applying the formulas of pyramids, prisms and related shapes with flat surfaces, there is a section on curved surfaces including cylinders, cones and spheres. The student also learns about geodesics, and designs and builds a model of a geodesic dome. The text includes a beginning chapter introducing key terms pertaining to geometric solids and an alphabetized glossary covering all terms introduced in the course.Solid Geometry teaches the materials normally covered in the second semester of high school geometry.
