Math Applications is an excellent general-purpose math course covering many everyday applications.The student practices using "mental math" throughout, to estimate answers "on his feet" so that he needn't feel helpless without a calculator or pencil and paper. He will become familiar with useful applications such as calculating credit card interest and payments, and figuring taxes. He will practice using formulas for computing things like speed, mileage, electrical power, temperature conversions, and various proportions.Additionally, the student will learn how to work out probabilities and "odds," work with statistics and make graphical presentations of data.
