"I was super impressed with both the curriculum and the company. They were genuinely interested in making sure we were able to make the best use of their products and really helped answer questions! I also really liked how well laid out the materials were. My kids were able to get a more hands on experience and were able to do the majority of it independently!"

What's in the box
The Book
In this illustrated book, students are introduced to the concepts of energy, electrons and electrical energy. They learn about voltage, current and resistance, and Ohm's law, which relates to all three. Students learn where the energy to light the light bulbs comes from, and how it can be turned on and off. The book includes activities which direct students to connect light bulbs to batteries with wires, and experiment to find out what happens when they use more batteries, or more light bulbs, or different kinds of wire.
The accompanying Learning Guide directs the student through the book and its activities, and also provides additional activities that assist the student in fully understanding and applying the concepts learned.
This book is part of the Young Scientist Collection, a series of 12 books for curious children aged 9-12 who want look, explore, discover and experiment.
The student learning guide provides step-by-step instructions that help students study at their own pace, learning with confidence every step of the way.

"I’m an educator and absolutely LOVE Heron’s materials. They provide such great illustrations which show the concepts being taught. This, even on its own, makes learning so much more engaging..."

"We bought the pack of all the science subjects and my daughter is working through ‘The World of Plants’ and she loves it. And I love that she’s able to take charge of her own work (she’s 12) It has been hard for us to find good quality homeschool curriculum that doesn’t need parent involvement most of the time (we have 5 kids). So we are very glad we found this!"
