This is a comprehensive glossary of cultural and historical terms used in Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak. There are 100 entries including Russian words, religious terms and more that can't commonly be found. To accommodate the different editions of Doctor Zhivago, words are listed by chapter in the order they appear in the book, with an alphabetical word list in the back. Included in the introduction is an orientation to the historical landscape into which Doctor Zhivago is placed, and a time line with selective events connected to tsarist rule and the Russian Revolution. For reference, there is also a list of characters and where they first appear in the book.
