Product Description

This course makes geography and statistics interesting, even exciting!  It is based on using a Gapminder package called Human Development Trends as a central delivery tool.  This is a student-friendly presentation for gaining a sense of the impact of statistical data. The course begins by introducing the student to the idea of geographical statistics and having them research some sources other than Gapminder.  It then utilizes a Gapminder Tutorial and other aids, with the highlight of the course being a Gapminder video by Hans Rosling called “Asia’s Rise,” which presents the growing impact of China and India on the world.

Materials You Need to Provide:  Additional Texts: Access to data sources such as World Almanac, World Atlas, other world atlases-printed or online. Materials: Computer with Internet access or downloaded copy for viewing the Gapminder presentation.
