Originally written for 8th grade readers, this is nevertheless a useful companion glossary for anyone reading or teaching The Bronze Bow by Elizabeth George Speare.  This is a comprehensive glossary of the history, geography, religious beliefs and customs as represented in The Bronze Bow.  There are over 125 entries including English words, Hebrew words, religious and historical terms, geographical terms and more that can’t commonly be found in an 8th grade student’s dictionary.  To accommodate the different editions of The Bronze Bow, words are listed by chapter in the order they appear in the book with an alphabetical index in the back.   Included in the Introduction is a brief essay and map of Ancient Palestine to assist readers in understanding the overall context of the story.  There is also an essay regarding figurative language to assist readers with Speare’s rich use of figurative language.
