Product Description

Written for the elementary student who is interested in music, this basic course introduces music at a level that is easily understandable to the young reader.

The course defines key terms such as "music" and "rhythm," and teaches the student how to play rhythms on everyday instruments such as bottles and cans.

The creative student has the opportunity to make up his own song and rhythm that he can play for others.

Materials You Need to Supply: Five glass soda pop or juice bottles about 8 inches tall, CD player, radio, metronome with audible sound, large can (coffee or juice) with bottom intact, two metal spoons. Optional: Access to the video Stomp Out Loud, available on the Internet from Amazon.com and possibly local libraries. This video is based on a theatre production called Stomp, which explores rhythm in everyday things.
