Product Description

This course introduces high school students to preventative health.  On the course the student learns of the basic importance of nutrition and exercise and the major body systems involved. The student learns to use key statistics such as body weight, BMI (body mass index), percent body weight, blood pressure and pulse rate to evaluate his own health.  And the student is also introduced to the philosophical approaches of Western medicine and alternative medicine.  As part of the final practical activities for the course, the student works out nutritional, exercise and dental regimens for himself, then carries them out for several weeks to a point of some improvement.   

Materials You Need to Provide:  Textbooks/references: Multiple reference books and a textbook are required. Materials: tape measure, weight scale, human anatomy model, Accu-Measure Personal Body Fat Tester, dental disclosing tablets, dental mirror, stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, hydrogen peroxide (food grade), oral clinical thermometer; otoscope and opthalmoscope recommended.
